WHAT'S NEW IN FS ATMOSPHERE 1.0 BETA 2

The following changes were made:

  • Pressure expressed in hecto pascals is correctly set by FS Atmosphere.
  • Hot keys were changed: press Ctrl+PageUP instead of Ctrl+Shift+F1, Ctrl+PageDown instead of Ctrl+Shift+F2 and Ctrl+End instead of Ctrl+Shift+F3.
  • FS Atmosphere works without Flight Simulator running and if METAR file was selected, FS Atmosphere allows to search and browse weather at various airports.
  • On request of FS Atmosphere users new options were added to Options... dialog: now units of measurement for temperature, pressure, visibility and altitude, displayed by FS Atmosphere, can be chosen.
  • FS Atmosphere creates/reads fs_atm.ini file to store/retrieve user settings.
  • FS Atmosphere now updates weather in MS FS more often reading all records of weather at some airport that are contained in current METAR file. This allows to follow weather changes more carefully.
  • Some minor changes to processing of stormy weather were made.

New features of FS Atmosphere are revealed:

  • FS Atmosphere is compartible with WideFS system, which gives the user an opportunuty to run FS Atmosphere and Flight Simulator on different computers connected to LAN.
  • FS Atmosphere seems to be compartible with FS Sky World 2002SE.

How to use FS Atmosphere in your FightSim Club?

Some guys from FlightSim community prefer to make flights along predefined routes. And they want to set specific weather conditions en route. Let's see how we can help them.

Actually, all they need is to compose their own METAR file. It may contain weather only at airports en route.

  1. Find with the help of FS Atmosphere airport with the conditions you want to encounter during a stage of your flight.
  2. Remember its ICAO code.
  3. Open METAR file containing that record in Notepad and search for the ICAO code you keep in memory.
  4. Copy entire record including date and time and don't forget that reports in METAR file must be separated by empty lines.
  5. Paste the record to a new *.txt file, containing weather en route, and change ICAO code of airport to desired ICAO code.
  6. Do all above until you finish or fill yourself sick :)

Yeah, it's painful. Therefore, I'm going to simplify this process in the next version of FS Atmosphere.
